USDA holds meeting for Hispanic and women farmers

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The U.S. Agriculture Department is holding an informational meeting for Hispanic and women farmers or ranchers who may have been improperly denied a farm loan.

People denied loan benefits between 1981 and 2000 may be eligible to apply for compensation. The claims period opened Sept. 24 and closes on March 25 of next year.

The meeting takes place at the USDA Service Center in Greeneville beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Staff also will provide participants with an update on current programs and available resources.
